CBD EXPLAINED

CBD - short for Cannabidiol is produced uniquely by the cannabis family and is one of over 100 cannabinoid compounds and molecules found in the Hemp and Marijuana plant.  The only difference between the two is the THC levels.  Hemp is grown with less than 0.3% THC levels, whereas with the Marijuana plant, the THC levels are much higher.

Nearly all CBD is extracted from the Hemp plant – through various different methods - and because of the low THC levels, is non-psychoactive.  This means you can enjoy the natural benefits of this remarkable plant, without the negative side effects of ‘getting high’ from the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) - the only psychoactive and illegal compound found in the plant.

Cannabis has recently become a hot topic of research and discussion.  America and Canada have taken the lead in medical research and after stripping down, separating, isolating and examining the Hemp and Marijuana plants in detail, it turns out this plants beauty is not only skin deep..

CBD works by interacting with receptors found in the nervous system and throughout our body.  It responds to our own naturally produced cannabinoid compounds, tapping into and complimenting how we function physiologically and biologically.  Specifically, CBD acts on, and in tandem with the body’s own ‘Endocannabinoid System’. Because of this, CBD is becoming a very popular option for maintaining general health and well-being and is reputed to have various benefits that are otherwise associated with cannabis, such as, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiolytic which, in turn, provides natural stress, anxiety and pain relief.

CBD in short is cannabis, but not as we know it. Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. Unfortunately it has been banned as a substance in most of the civilised world since the early 1900’s. As a result, scientific medical research into it stalled and its medical benefits fell into folklore and legend, became old wives tales and eventually, virtually disappeared.

Recently however America (amongst others) has realised that there are no real legitimate reasons for prohibition in modern society and as a result legalisation and more importantly medical research has begun again, in earnest.

Medicinal cannabis, high in CBD content is now readily available throughout the majority of American states and has even achieved FDA approved status for treatment of ailments, however in the UK any cannabis based products must contain less than 0.2%THC to be legal. As a result, the only way to obtain legal access to the medical benefits of cannabis is to remove the THC through CO2 extraction

Our isolate suppliers are one of the few company's in the world using a patented / proprietary technology that can completely remove the THC to ND (non detect) levels.
